THE POET SPRING

Last April 14, the Institut Français du Nigeria and the Abuja Literary Society presented the first bilingual Open-Mic in Abuja. A mixture of

the regular Open-Mic nights organised by the Abuja Literary Society, and of the French festival “Printemps des Poètes” (Spring of Poets). H.E Mr Ambassador Denys Gauer opened this evening, which was held at the Thought Pyramid Art Centre in Abuja. About 40 participants had submitted pieces of poetry, spoken word and short stories. 25, both in French and in English, were selected and performed in front of 110 people. Many students of the Institut Français performed their first poem in French. A very successful evening full of cultural exchanges, language discoveries and of course, literary talents!
